Smart Free: Why we deliberately chose 16" |
|

With the new Smart Free we are deliberately taking a new direction. Not because we doubt the advantages of larger wheels – on the contrary: our models Smart Dynamic and Smart Wild fully earn their place with their 20" wheel and remain the first choice when it comes to maximum riding stability, range and sporty use.
With the Smart Free, however, we are pursuing a different idea: we want to create a new category – the compact handbike.
For some years now we have been seeing a clear trend towards handy mobility solutions that are easy to transport. Many users are looking for a product that fits into everyday life without fuss: for errands in town, the way to work, day trips or travelling by car, train or plane. That is exactly what we developed the Smart Free for. |

| | The Smart Free will therefore be available only with a 16" front wheel . That decision makes the combination of wheelchair and handbike considerably shorter overall, gives it a smaller turning circle and brings advantages when transporting and stowing it. Whether boot, lift, lifting platform, hotel room or public transport – the Smart Free fits into everyday life more easily. Thanks to the folding drive unit the system stays particularly space-saving and easy to carry. | | |

For us the Smart Free is therefore not an alternative to the Smart Dynamic or Smart Wild, but a sensible addition to our range. It is aimed at people looking for a particularly handy, practical handbike that needs little maintenance – without giving up the riding dynamics and the fun of a handbike with a chain. |

What makes this possible is our new handbike-by-wire system with CIXI technology. Instead of transmitting the force to the drive wheel through a chain, the rider cranks into a generator. Despite the missing mechanical connection the ride feels direct and natural – just like on a classic handbike. At the same time the technology reduces the number of mechanical parts and with them the points that can wear out or break. With a strong 85 Nm of torque, recuperation, a reverse gear and plenty of power even in demanding terrain, the system is an ideal basis for a compact handbike. The Smart Free remains widely configurable and compatible with many proven Stricker equipment options. |

| | T4 brake as standard on the GX | | |
| | | The Tetra brake is made for people with limited hand function. That includes people with tetraplegia as well as users with mild to severe restrictions of hand function, for example from paralysis, amputation or multiple sclerosis (MS), among others. Because conventional controls such as brake levers or twist grips are often not usable enough, the Tetra brake was developed specifically for these requirements. It allows safe and controlled operation even with severely reduced motor function. Combined with the Tetra equipment of our power assist devices, it ensures reliable use without limiting any safety-relevant function. | | |

| | Stricker T4 instruction manual | The T4 brake is the latest generation of our Tetra brake. The “T4” stands for the fourth stage of the system’s development, into which a great deal of practical experience has gone. With the new back pedal clips we have made our proven back pedal safer still. Although the system has been in successful use for many years, we keep developing our products and are not afraid to improve established solutions. | Whisper-quiet direct drive | | |
| Since the beginning of 2026 we have been offering a further motor for the Smart Dynamic. The direct drive is whisper-quiet and convinces with fast power transmission, which makes our Smart Dynamic even more agile. Its 250 W are road-legal and still strong enough for climbs (peak output 1000 W). At the IRMA trade show in Hamburg we will have a demonstrator with us. Model number: LiDyDLT250 | | |
